The Sporting News - Shortly after I wrote about the possibility -- dare we say the likelihood? -- that the Cubs threw the 1918 World Series, I got an e-mail from a television producer here in Chicago. "Why don't more people know about this?" he wanted to know. I could only shrug my shoulders and point him to Peter Alter, the curator at the Chicago History Museum, which acquired more than 1,000 pages of documents connected to the 1919 Black Sox scandal in December.
